How does Suhagra 100mg work?

Suhagra 100 mg contains the active ingredient sildenafil, which belongs to the PDE5 inhibitor group. The medication blocks the enzyme that breaks down cGMP, allowing blood vessels in the penis to relax and increase blood flow. This helps maintain a firmer and longer-lasting erection during sexual arousal.

During sexual stimulation, the blood vessel lining in the penis releases nitric oxide (NO), which triggers the production of cGMP in the smooth muscle cells of the penis. cGMP prompts the smooth muscle cells to relax. This action widens the penis’ blood vessels. The relaxation of smooth muscle cells allows for improved blood flow into the spongy tissue of the penis. This tissue is called the corpus cavernosum. The increased blood flow fills the spongy tissue, leading to an erection.

These pills do not directly induce an erection. Instead, it enhances the natural erectile response by amplifying penile blood flow upon sexual stimulation. 

Uses of Suhagra 100mg

It is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It helps improve blood flow to the penis, allowing men to achieve and maintain an erection during sexual activity.

Dosage

Missed Dose

This medicine is taken as and when required. So, you’re less likely to miss a dose. If it is time for your next prescribed dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses within 24 hours.

Overdose

An overdose of the drug can lead to serious side effects. If you suspect an overdose e.g., you have taken extra doses or double doses by mistake, talk to your doctor. 

Safety Advice

Alcohol : UNSAFE
It is unsafe to drink alcohol with Suhagra 100mg (sildenafil citrate tablets)

Pregnancy : POSSIBLY UNSAFE
This medicine is not approved for use in women. It’s for male sexual health problems (impotence or ED).

Breastfeeding : POSSIBLY UNSAFE
This medicine is not meant for women’s use. Information regarding the use of Suhagra during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not available. Consult your doctor for further information.

Driving : UNSAFE
This drug can make you dizzy or affect your vision. Do not drive or use hazardous machinery until you are fully aware of its effects.

Kidney : POSSIBLY SAFE
Sildenafil is not known to impair kidney health. Use caution if you have severe kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Liver:  CAUTION
Suhagra 100 mg will be processed by your liver, so use caution if you have an existing liver problem. Consult your doctor for further advice. Your doctor will probably adjust the dosage for you. 

Other Precautions

Suhagra tablets may not be suitable for you if you suffer from certain medical conditions. Before you take this medicine, let your doctor know if you have or had:

1. History of stomach ulcers.
   
2. History of liver problems.
   
3. History of blood cell issues such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia
   
4. Low blood pressure
   
5. Uncontrolled high blood pressure
   
6. Penis with an unusual shape or Peyronie’s.
   
7. A prolonged erection lasting more than 4 hours.
   
8. History of heart surgery in the past 6 months.
   
9. Pulmonary hypertension.
   
10. A history of retinitis pigmentosa
    
11. Bleeding problems.
    
12. Kidney problems
    
13. Kidney dialysis.
    
14. Heart attack
    
15. Irregular heartbeat
    
16. Aortic valve narrowing
    
17. Heart failure
    
18. Angina (chest pain)
    
19. Allergy from Sildenafil Citrate or any other medications.
    
20. A history of stroke, congestive heart failure, etc.
    
21. Suffer from conditions such as diabetes, high blood cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc.
    
22. Take nitrates for chest pain.
    
23. Suffer from epilepsy or seizures.
    
24. Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
    
25. Suffer from ischemic heart disease (also known as coronary artery disease).
    
26. Are an alcoholic or have a history of substance abuse.
    

Sildenafil should only be taken under the supervision of a doctor. It should not be used by women or children. 

Side effects of Suhagra 100mg

Some side effects can occur while taking Suhagra 100mg tablets. The most common side effects are:

• Headache
• Dizziness
• Stomach upset
• Stuffy nose
• Flushing
• Indigestion
• Nosebleed

These are usually mild and temporary, they will go away as your body adjusts to the medicine. In rare events, more serious side effects can take place such as:

• Visual disturbances
• Bloody and cloudy urine
• A prolonged and painful erection that lasts for more than 4 hours (priapism)
• Sudden vision loss in one or both eyes 
• Blurred vision
• Hearing loss
• Trouble breathing
• Chest pain
• Palpitations
• Muscle pain
• High blood pressure
• Low blood pressure
• Allergic reactions

Drug Interactions

Certain medications can interact with Suhagra 100mg and affect the way the PDE5 inhibitor works. If you take any medications e.g., prescription or non-prescription drugs, vitamins, and herbs, supplements, let your doctor know about them. Possible interactions may occur with:

• Amlodipine
• Carbamazepine
• Clarithromycin
• Dexamethasone
• Ritonavir
• Phenytoin
• Nitroglycerin
• Terazosin
• Isoniazid
• Imatinib Mesylate
• Other medicines for ED

Suhagra contains sildenafil, the same active ingredient found in REVATIO. REVATIO is a medication prescribed for treating PAH. Therefore, do not use these tablets with

• REVATIO
• other PAH treatments containing sildenafil
• other PDE5 inhibitors like Vardenafil or Tadalafil.

Interaction with Alcohol

It is unsafe to consume alcohol along with sildenafil citrate tablets or any PDE5 inhibitor. Alcohol increases the risk of side effects such as dizziness, fainting, flushing, blurred vision, and changes in heart rate. 

Interaction with Grapefruit Juice

Drinking grapefruit juice along with Suhagra 100mg (sildenafil citrate) can increase its level in your body. So, it may not work for ED as it is intended to.

• Keep these pills out of reach of children and pets.
• Keep these pills away from direct heat, moisture, and sunlight.
• Store the pills at room temperature.
• Only consume the pills before their expiration date.
