How It Works

Viagra 120 mg contains the ingredient Sildenafil Citrate which is a PDE5 inhibitor. It relaxes the smooth muscles present in the walls of the blood vessels and increases the blood flow to the penis. Sildenafil Citrate does not let the enzyme PDE 5 destroy cGMP. cGMP is a molecule that is responsible for the contraction and dilation of blood vessels. Viagra 120 mg blocks the action of PDE 5 and enables the production of cGMP. This allows more and more blood flow to the penis. As a result, an erection is achieved.

Viagra 120 mg Uses

Viagra 120 mg is prescribed for the treatment of the following problems:

1. Erectile Dysfunction (ED) – a condition that causes an inability to achieve or sustain an erection making it difficult to have sexual intercourse.
2. Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) – high blood pressure that affects the arteries in the lungs and the heart.

Dosage

Viagra 120 mg is intended to be taken orally with water. A single tablet is recommended to be taken once in 24 hours. You should not consume more than one tablet in 24 hours. This pill is intended to be taken with or without food, and approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour before any sexual activity. The effects of this medicine can last for around 4 to 5 hours.

Missed Dose: This medicine is taken as and when needed. Therefore, the chances of missing a dose are very less. However, if this medicine is taken for the treatment of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), the missed dose should be taken as soon as possible. If it’s time for the next scheduled dose, the missed dose should be skipped. In no case should a double dose be taken to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose: An overdose can lead to serious side effects. If problems persist for long, contact your doctor immediately.

1. If you are allergic to certain medications.
2. If you take nitrates for chest pain.
3. If you have a medical history of stroke, heart attack, irregular heartbeat, and chest pain.

5. Cimetidine
6. Antibiotics such as erythromycin and clarithromycin
7. Efavirenz
8. Beta-blockers such as atenolol, labetalol, metoprolol, and nadolol
9. HIV Protease inhibitors such as atazanavir, indinavir, darunavir, fosamprenavir, lopinavir, saquinavir, and ritonavir
10. Medications for seizures such as carbamazepine and phenytoin
11. Other medicine for Erectile Dysfunction
12. Medications for blood pressure

Interaction with alcohol

Alcohol is known to increase the chances of experiencing side effects. Avoid consuming alcohol alongside this medication at all costs.
