How It Works

Cialis 5 mg contains the ingredient Tadalafil that works by relaxing the smooth muscles present in the blood vessels of the body. It increases the flow of blood to certain areas of the body, including the penis. When you are sexually stimulated, nitric oxide is released into the penis. Nitric Oxide is responsible for the production of cGMP, which controls the dilation and contraction of blood vessels. An enzyme PDE 5 destroys cGMP and does not let the erection to occur. Tadalafil present in Cialis 5 mg stops PDE 5 from destroying cGMP. This helps the blood flow easily and an erection occurs. The effects of this medicine are known to last for around 36 hours.

Uses

Cialis 5 mg is prescribed for the treatment of the following problems:

1. Erectile Dysfunction (ED) – a condition that makes it unable for a man to achieve or sustain an erection during sexual intercourse.
2. Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) – high blood pressure of arteries present in the lungs and right side of the heart.
3. Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) – prostate gland enlargement that causes urination difficulty.

Dosage

The recommended dose of Cialis 5 mg is one tablet per day. The medication starts showing effects within 30 minutes to 1 hour and lasts for around 36 hours. It is advised to take the pill one hour before any sexual activity. 

1. For patients suffering from Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), a single pill is meant to be taken at the same time daily.
2. For Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), take it as advised by the doctor.

Missed Dose: Since this pill is taken as and when needed, the chances of missing a dose are very low. However, for people suffering from PAH, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not overdose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose: An overdose can lead to serious side effects. If you experience any side effects for long, contact your doctor immediately.

Cialis 5 mg should be taken with caution in certain situations as they may interfere with its working or aggravate the side effects. Let your doctor know:
