How Dapoxetine Works

• Dapoxetine works by increasing serotonin activity in the brain. It is a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) drug. 
• It blocks the reabsorption of serotonin into neurons. This makes it possible for more serotonin to be available to the brain. It improves the transmission of messages between neurons. 
• This helps avoid a quick discharge of semen, helping the erection last longer. The time the man takes to ejaculate gets delayed by a few minutes. 
• By gaining control over ejaculation, the person can enjoy pleasurable sexual intercourse. 

Uses

Premature Ejaculation (PE) 

A condition in which a man ejaculates sooner than he or his partner would like. This prevents the partners from having enjoyable sexual intercourse.

Dosage

• Feel free to have it with or without food. 
• Take the pill 1 to 3 hours before sexual activity. Do not consume more than one tablet in 24 hours. 
• Read all the instructions on the drug pack/leaflet/label.

Missed Dosage: This medicine is taken as and when needed. So, you are unlikely to miss a dose.

Overdose: An overdose of the drug can lead to unwanted effects. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical help right away.

Safety Advice

Alcohol : UNSAFE
It is unsafe to drink alcohol with dapoxetine tablets.

Pregnancy : POSSIBLY UNSAFE
This medicine is not approved for use in women. It’s for male sexual health problems (PE).

Breastfeeding : POSSIBLY UNSAFE
This medicine is not meant for women. Information regarding the use of dapoxetine during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not available. Consult your doctor for further information.

Driving : UNSAFE
This drug can make you dizzy or affect your vision. Do not drive or use hazardous machinery until you are fully aware of its effects.

Kidney : POSSIBLY SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Dapoxetine is not known to impair kidney health. However, use caution if you have severe kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Liver: POSSIBLY SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
This medication will be processed by your liver. If your liver is working well, there shouldn’t be a concern. However, use caution if you have an existing liver problem. Consult your doctor for further advice. Your doctor will probably adjust the dosage for you.

Other Precautions

Before you take dapoxetine tablets, tell your doctor:

• If you suffer from epilepsy.
• If you have a history of heart attack, stroke, or congestive heart failure.
• If you suffer from problems such as diabetes, hypertension, angina, etc.
• If you have kidney or liver problems.
• If you have a history of fainting.
• If you have a bleeding disorder such as hemophilia.
• If you suffer from anxiety and depression.
• If you have a history of uncontrolled blood pressure.

This medication is meant for adult men with PE, for their sexual performance improvement. Women should not take this dapoxetine to enhance their sexual experience. 

Dapoxetine Side Effects

Common side effects include:

• Headaches
• Nausea
• Dizziness
• Diarrhea
• Dry mouth
• Sleep problems
• Upset stomach
• Flushing

Usually the mild side effects will resolve on their own. If they last longer than a couple of hours, speak to a doctor.

In rare cases, more serious symptoms can occur, such as:  

• Severe insomnia
• Excessive sweating
• Blurred vision
• Unusual tiredness or weakness
• Severe allergic reaction (rashes, swelling, etc.)
• Increased blood pressure

Drug Interactions

Certain drugs are known to interact with dapoxetine and affect the way it works. If you take any herbal, OTC, recreational, or any other form of drugs, let your doctor know about them.

• Antibiotics such as erythromycin
• Fluconazole
• Ketoconazole
• Duloxetine
• Linezolid
• Lithium
• Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) such as phenelzine, tranylcypromine
• Rasagiline
• Selegiline
• Tramadol
• Warfarin
• Ritonavir
• Tryptophan
• Verapamil
• Antidepressants such as paroxetine and fluoxetine

Interaction with Alcohol

Alcohol can increase the risk of experiencing side effects. Avoid consuming alcohol along with this medicine.

Storage Instructions

• Store Dapoxetine tablets in their original packaging.
• Keep the pills out of reach of children.
• Store the pills away from direct heat, moisture, and sunlight.
• Once the pack is opened, store the pill in an airtight container.
• Do not consume the pills past their expiration date.
