How Cytotec 200 mcg (Misoprostol) Works
Cytotec 200 mcg or misoprostol helps induce an early abortion in women. It works in combination with mifepristone. The woman must be less than 9 weeks pregnant, or the abortion pills may not work. The medication increases uterine contractions. This enables bleeding to empty the uterus.
The drug is a synthetic prostaglandin that reduces the risk of stomach ulcers in patients who are using NSAIDs. It works by lowering the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Thereby it protects the lining of the stomach.
Uses
- Duodenal ulcer
A type of ulcer that occurs in the lining in the part of the small intestine.
- Gastric ulcer
A type of ulcer that occurs in the lining of the stomach. Cytotec 200 mcg may prevent gastric ulcers.
- NSAIDs-induced ulcer

- Postpartum bleeding
Excessive bleeding that occurs after childbirth.
- Cervical ripening/cervix softening
The softening of the cervix that begins prior to labor contractions. Cervical softening helps with the dilation (widening) of the cervix.
- Induction of labor
Stimulating the uterus to start labor.
- Termination of pregnancy
Causing an early abortion or a first-trimester pregnancy termination. It’s used in combination with mifepristone for this purpose.
Benefits

- Ends early pregnancy effectively
- Allows women to have a better control over their reproductive choices

- Induces labor in successful pregnancies to easily deliver the baby out of the birth canal
Dosage
- Four tablets of Cytotec 200 mcg are taken for the termination of early pregnancy in women.
- Your doctor may advise you to take the pill by mouth or by inserting it in your vagina.
- For oral use, the four pills are placed in the cheek pouch or gums for 20-25 minutes. After they get dissolved, the remaining medication is then swallowed with water.
- In another method, the pills are placed in the vagina. One by one, they are inserted to reach as far as possible in the vagina.
- For the treatment of gastric ulcers, the usual dosage is four pills a day.
Missed Dose
To end your first-trimester pregnancy, you are unlikely to miss a dose. For the treatment of gastric ulcers, the missed dose should be taken as soon as possible. If it’s time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take an overdose to make up for the missed dose.

Mainly dealt with Joseph and he was very helpful and empathetic with me and explained everything and made the transaction smooth and easy
Was really worried after I read that bleeding is heavier than what happens during periods. Had to take it anyhow to terminate my pregnancy. Took 4 pills vaginally and started bleeding after a couple of hours. My doc asked me to take one tablet of Ibuprofen 1 hour before Cytotec and I guess that was the best decision. I was still in pain when I was bleeding but it was tolerable. My boyfriend was there with me and helped me through the process. I’d definitely recommend this drug to others as well since it helped me end my pregnancy
