Cytotec 200 mcg (Misoprostol) Tablets

(2 customer reviews)

Cytotec 200 mcg is an oral medication used to cause an early abortion in women. It is used in combination with mifepristone for this purpose. It works in women who are 9 weeks pregnant or less. Misoprostol works by increasing the contractions (by opening the cervix). By pushing out the tissue, it empties the uterus without needing surgical intervention. For the termination of pregnancy, four tablets are given for the abortion process. You may be advised to take it orally or vaginally.

This medication also helps with the treatment of gastric ulcers in people being treated with NSAIDs. It works by lowering the amount of acid to protect the lining of the stomach.

How Cytotec 200 mcg (Misoprostol) Works

Cytotec 200 mcg or misoprostol helps induce an early abortion in women. It works in combination with mifepristone. The woman must be less than 9 weeks pregnant, or the abortion pills may not work. The medication increases uterine contractions. This enables bleeding to empty the uterus.

The drug is a synthetic prostaglandin that reduces the risk of stomach ulcers in patients who are using NSAIDs. It works by lowering the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Thereby it protects the lining of the stomach.

Uses

  • Duodenal ulcer

A type of ulcer that occurs in the lining in the part of the small intestine.

  • Gastric ulcer

A type of ulcer that occurs in the lining of the stomach. Cytotec 200 mcg may prevent gastric ulcers.

  • NSAIDs-induced ulcer

  • For the treatment of gastric ulcers, the usual dosage is four pills a day.

  1. Mainly dealt with Joseph and he was very helpful and empathetic with me and explained everything and made the transaction smooth and easy

  2. Was really worried after I read that bleeding is heavier than what happens during periods. Had to take it anyhow to terminate my pregnancy. Took 4 pills vaginally and started bleeding after a couple of hours. My doc asked me to take one tablet of Ibuprofen 1 hour before Cytotec and I guess that was the best decision. I was still in pain when I was bleeding but it was tolerable. My boyfriend was there with me and helped me through the process. I’d definitely recommend this drug to others as well since it helped me end my pregnancy

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Cytotec, or misoprostol, is typically taken 24 to 48 hours after mifepristone. It increases uterine contractions and usually causes bleeding within 4-6 hours. Some women may experience mild cramping and bleeding that can last from 9 to 16 days or longer.
Cytotec is considered a safe option for inducing labor. The World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines from 2011 recommend its use for this purpose, with the exception of women who have had a previous cesarean section.
Misoprostol is generally considered safe and effective and does not typically cause problems in future pregnancies.
Misoprostol is used after delivery to manage postpartum hemorrhage. It helps increase uterine tone and reduce postpartum bleeding.
Cytotec is often taken as a sublingual tablet (placed under the tongue), which may be more effective for softening and opening the cervix compared to swallowing it whole or vaginal insertion. Refer to the dosage instructions provided by your healthcare provider for more details.
Yes, misoprostol can be used alone for a medication abortion, though the success rate is higher when used in combination with mifepristone. If abortion is not complete with misoprostol alone, a suction abortion may be needed to remove the pregnancy.
